The Pickerills | 50th Wedding Anniversary

Celebrating 50 years of marriage is a wonderful accomplishment that shows lots of love and hard work. This year they will be celebrating 52 years! Congratulate them below!

I have been very blessed in my life. I still have all four of my grandparents here and I was able to know one set of my great-grandparents pretty well. They celebrated over 75 years of marriage together and they were so sweet!

My maternal grandparents, I call them Nanny and Pappy, celebrated 50 years of marriage in September of 2020. Because of C-vid, they did not get to celebrate how they thought they would, but we still were able to throw them a drive through party for their friends to stop by and family got to enjoy a meal and celebrate together at their church.

My Nanny and Pappy love to host! Growing up, we had consistent get togethers for all the birthdays and holidays. And there are a lot of birthdays! They like to watch sports, especially if it’s their grandchildren or great grandchildren playing. They have three children, nine grandchildren, and six great grandchildren with two more on the way! Pappy works on the farm and Nanny works at a thrift store that my parents started.

Nanny and Pappy met in high school when Nanny was a freshman and Pappy was a sophomore. They started dating the next year. Their favorite dates included going to eat and going to the drive-in! Pappy proposed to Nanny at her senior prom in 1970. After marrying later that year in September, they moved around a little over the years but always stayed close to home. They began building a house of their own, the home I grew up knowing as Nanny and Pappy’s house, across the driveway from Pappy’s childhood home in 1999.

This series of photos are from their session to announce their anniversary in the newspaper and for some photos for the party.

This next series of photos are from their actual party!

I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I did writing it! Congratulate them below in a comment!

xoxo,
