This is for all of my future #mikaylascottbrides! I’m giving you my TOP five tips for amazing engagement session outfits. Now, contrary to my personal thought processes when it comes to getting professional photos done, you probably already have these amazing outfit options in your closet.
You want to have coordinating outfits but that doesn’t necessarily mean you need to be “matching”. You could wear the same color in a different shade instead of wearing the exact same shade of blue.
If one of you is wearing a bold pattern, I’d have the other person wear a neutral, solid color to ensure the photos aren’t too busy.
Make sure you plan your outfits together and decide how formal and/or casual your outfits will be. If the bride is wearing a long tulle skirt with a blouse, the groom shouldn’t being in shorts and flip flops.
Wear something that compliments your skin tone and body shape. If you don’t know what colors you look best in, ask a family member or friend to help you out. If you don’t like something about your body, I wouldn’t suggest showing off that part of your body. For example, if you don’t like your arms, I wouldn’t wear a sleeveless top.
If you decide to add plaid or another bold pattern to your outfit choices, I reccomend LARGER patterns. If the groom’s shirt has a small plaid pattern, it could look kind of crazy in some photos. The camera just can’t pick up that tiny print from far distances.
Has this post made you reconsider some outfit choices? If so, I’m glad I could help! If not, congratulations! You already have a “photographer’s eye”! 🙂
For our engagement photos back in 2015, I wore a little black dress and Jordan wore a blue dress shirt with jeans. I’ll post a picture below 😉
